Holding Hannah

Well, it is about time! We finally got to hold Hannah for the first time. It was AMAZING! Of course we had to work with the ventilator and feeding tube, but it worked. She is so tiny compared to us. She tolerated it very well. She was a little fidgety at first, but then she opened her eyes and saw who had her and she calmed down. When Marcus held her it was as if she snuggled down into his big arms and just gazed at him. The experience was unimaginable. To know that she is ours and always will be is really cool. It only lasted about 3 minutes for each of us, but I know that it is a feeling neither Marcus nor I will ever forget.

I have also attached some pictures of Maddy and Laney when they came to visit. I sure wish they could have met Hannah. They will have so much fun together when she gets big.

Here is another one of her on her belly. We just can't wait to bring her home. Posted by Hello

Well we visited Hannah again. As you can tell she is now on her belly. She seems to love it. She is still doing wonderful. Posted by Hello

Update on Hannah

Well, she is still doing great. The results of the brain ultrasound and the EKG came back Monday and there were no brain bleeds and the heart looks great. Thank you Jesus! They are having to put in a PICC (peripheral intravenous central catheter) line to take the place of the UVC (umbilical venous catheter) that was going through her umbilical cord. They are having to do this because the umbilical cord is rotting. They have also started feeding her breastmilk. Sunday Hannah was being fed .5 cc of breastmilk, yesterday they went up to 1 cc, and we called this morning and they have started feeding her 1.5 cc. They keep on with that and she will end up looking like her daddy. We just ask that ya'll keep us in your prayers.

Happy Birthday Hannah Elyse Price

Well, it has been a pretty tough week.

Saturday, Jennifer went into pre-term labor. We originally went to the hospital with a bladder infection or possible kidney stone. After they checked her the nurse said Jennifer was 4-5 cm dialated and in preterm labor. They gave Jennifer multiple medications to stop the contractions and they succeeded. Dispite all of their effort Jennifer started contracting again Tuesday evening, and Hannah had to be delivered. From everyone's best guess, this seemed to be caused by either a bladder infection, uterine infection, or some other infection but noone knows for sure.

Hannah Elyse Price was born on March 22, 2005 weighing in at 2 lbs 3 ozs and measuring 13 3/4 inches. She was able to breathe without a ventilator for about 18 hours after she was born, which the doctor and nurses said was very good. She was then put on the ventilator because she was just getting too tired. But when we left the hospital today Hannah was doing really good, and the neonatologist said that she has exceeded all of his expectations. We are just going to keep praying that Hannah continues to grow and stay healthy.

Emily's Party

This past weekend we went to Dallas for our niece, Emily's 2nd birthday party. It was so much fun! It was also nice to see Marcus' family. We hadn't seen them in a while. As usual Marcus and Steve acted like...well, Marcus and Steve. Shelly gave me a ton of baby stuff and some maternity clothes. We are very appreciative. They rented this blow up maze thing. It was like a tunnel. And, YES...at 6 months pregnant you know I crawled through that thing with Emily. It was GREAT! We had such a good time, and as usual did not want to leave.

I have to go. I have a breastfeeding class tonight! I'm so excited. We love all of you!

Our nightly ritual...Hannah loves listening to her Baby Bach CD from her Dad and the Lullabies CD from her Aunt G and Uncle Ryan. It really seems to calm her. I hope she comes out as musically talented as her Dad. Posted by Hello

6 months

Hello all!

I hope everyone is doing well, making it through cold season OK. We just got back last weekend from Branson. We had a great time! It was very relaxing and well needed. Hannah racked up on clothes. That tends to happen when you go to an Osh Kosh and Carter's outlet store. Marcus was so cute picking out clothes for her. I can tell they will be the best of friends. I may be put on the back burner for awhile after she gets here. I guess I will be needed for one thing... MILK! No, I'm just kidding, but he is going to be a GREAT Dad. This little girl has no idea how much she is already loved.

Like I said, Branson was much needed. Especially after the trip to the hospital the week before. Yes, we got our first experience in labor and delivery about 2 weeks ago, I still have the track marks to prove it. A stomach virus latched on to me for about 12 hours and I couldn't shake it. Marcus made an executive decision and we were on our way to the hospital. The ER staff QUICKLY took me to L&D where I was put on baby monitors. 4 hours later...they decided maybe I needed to stop throwing up, and finally gave me an IV with this cool drug Phenergen. It knocked me OUT! They pumped about 1500 ccs of fluid into me. Poor Marcus sat there the whole day while I slept. He didn't eat, sleep, or anything. I felt so bad for him. We came home later that night. It was not fun! But, Hannah and I are fine and back to normal. She was a little mad from being up all night and not eating and made us very aware of it. They couldn't keep her on the monitor, she kept swimming away from it. She is hard headed like her Mom. I think we will keep her, anyway.

Well, we are 24 weeks and counting. Hannah is so active these days. Sometimes it feels like she is trying to bust through my belly button. She seems to be on a schedule pretty much. She is awake at the same times everyday, including when her Dad comes home from work at 700. They have their hellos and I love yous and she goes to sleep until about 930 when I am trying to go to sleep and she is all over the place. It is so cool! Marcus has felt her a couple of times, but she is still a little small. I want him to be able to feel her so bad! His eyes light up when he can feel her though. It is really special! We see our new DR Monday. Yes, I am changing DRs at 6 months pregnant. I know, it is silly, but Marcus and I have decided this is best. We really want to have Hannah "naturally" and my old DR is not really for that. He practices at UAMS and they tend to push you the other way. We have changed to a Christian based clinic that delivers at Baptist Hospital or St. Vincent's where they are more "natural" friendly. We are pretty excited about it. Hopefully all goes well.

Well, anyway, enough rambling. We love all of you and hope to see yall soon!

Love,
Jennifer
